JMO4Rep Update - Primary Election Results

Friends, constituents, and allies,

Here are the totals for my race, according to the Board of Elections' website:
JEANETTE MOTT OXFORD
1260
81.03%

MARK RICE
295
18.97%

Thanks to all who helped in any way, especially those who helped with door-knocking or working the polls in the St. Louis heat and humidity. Thanks to my great group of endorsing organizations. Thanks also to those who hosted fundraising parties, those who put on labels and stamps for mailings, and those who helped with the website and database.

I will next write you following the Veto Session in September unless very important state news happens in the interim.

JMO4Rep Update - Countdown to Primary Election

Friends, Constituents, and Allies,

Next Tuesday is Primary Election Day, and your help is needed as we move toward THE BIG DAY.

First, some good news. I received the St. Louis Post-Dispatch endorsement this morning. The wording was as follows (with my age corrected in this copy): Jeanette Mott Oxford, the 52-year-old incumbent, is the clear choice over newcomer Mark Rice. She opposed cuts to Medicaid and adoption subsidies and has been a champion of public school funding, a living wage and universal health care. She played a key role in strengthening lead abatement laws. Jeanette Mott Oxford deserves reelection.

I also recently received endorsements from:
- Americans for Democratic Action, St. Louis Chapter
- Missouri Nurses Association
- St. Louis Teachers & School Related Personnel Union, Local 420 AFT/AFL-CIO

See the complete list of endorsers at my website: www.jmo4rep.com. (And a special thanks to Joe Frank for the great work he has done keeping a website updated during this campaign.)

Is it too hot for you to want to knock on doors? Then how about making phone calls in an air conditioned office? Phonebankers are needed tomorrow, Wednesday, August 2nd from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the SEIU Building, 5585 Pershing Ave, 63112. The phone set up there is automated and a delight to use. Help if you can. Pro-Vote will provide the list and the script. To volunteer, call Julie Terbrock at 314-531-2288 or 314-660-3843 (cell) or write her at: julie@missouriprovote.org.

I am organizing a Get Out the Vote postcard mailing party either in the afternoon or evening on Friday, August 4. Can you help stick on labels or stamps? Call 772-0301. We'll be working at the 9th ward Democrats headquarters at the corner of Arsenal and Lemp.

I also need volunteers to help with room set up and host duties at a townhall meeting, this Saturday, August 5th, 10:30 a.m.-noon at the fellowship hall of Epiphany United Church of Christ, 2911 McNair, Benton Park, 63118. Call 772-0301 to volunteer (or to RSVP if you'd just like to attend).

Since I have been endorsed by all but one of the wards in the 59th district, poll workers are already in place for primary election day in most wards, but I will need some volunteers to staff polling places in the 20th ward. Please let me know at the numbers below if you're willing to hand out literature on Tuesday, August 8, for any of these shifts: 6-9 a.m., 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m., or 4-7 p.m.

Finally, it's not to late to give to my primary campaign. You may do so online at www.jmo4rep.com, or send a check to Citizens to Elect Oxford, P. O. Box 19112, St. Louis, MO 63118.
